Hatha Yoga Pradipika – An introduction to Pranayama and Kriyas

Ultimately the goal of Ashtanga Yoga is to prepare oneself for the deeper more esoteric practices that integrate the heart and mind. The Hatha Pradipika explains six cleansing actions to prepare the body and mind to become more attentive to the movement of subtle energy through specific breathing exercises. Learn about the Kriyas – cleansing practices and the different types of pranayama described in this ancient text.

Saturday 1:30pm - 3:30pm -

Opening the Hips, Protecting the Knees, and a little Leg behind the Head!

Ekapada Sirshasana or “leg behind the head” is a troublesome asana for many practitioners.  This session will explore several different ways of opening the hips throughout the practice, as well as introduce different techniques to enhance this ‘hip-opening’ experience, whilst still protecting the knees. Students will come to understand more fully how to get into this area to help advance their personal practice.

Experiments with Reality: The Internal Limbs

Discover how sound and breath can change your state of mind. We will delve into a suite of seated practices, including japa, pranayama and different meditation techniques to develop a personalize practice beyond asana.

Sunday 2:00pm - 4:00pm - 

Motherhood from the Mat

Learn how yoga can be practiced in many small ways both on and off the mat. We will explore important self-care strategies for those challenging, yet magical, early years of parenthood. Nurture yourself with a 20 minute asana practice, and learn a short but powerful pranayama exercise that you can do any time. We will discuss the difficulties of reclaiming your practice after giving birth, and also the importance of making time for yourself.  Raising a family is often called “seventh series” because it really is the test to your practice - Bring your questions!

 

Tuition:
$135 For the full Weekend

$108 FOR 4 Sessions
$30 For single sessions
